Running the mission has been a great learning experience. And like life, we live, we learn and we leave. It is now time for me to depart the mission. I knew that back in January when I submitted my resignation. I waited several months hoping to be able to tell you who the new director would be, but as of this writing, the board has not decided in which direction the mission will go, much less who will lead it. I, like you, will learn the mission’s fate when I read it in The Decatur Daily.

Most of you know where I live and that I am accessible if you should need me, or just want to get in touch. Staff at the mission will give you my phone number if you ask. And, it’s been fun—believe it or not—and I’m a better person for having served. Jeanette

Central United Methodist, “Be The Church Day”

On April 11, twenty-one young people came to TVO prepared to “Be The Church” in action—and they were. We had three tasks lined up for them to do: (1) fold and staple the program for the Golf Tournament; (2) remove outdated canned goods from the lower pantry; and (3) put as many kits of furniture together as possible during the two hour time frame.

Kyle Ingram, Will Laughlin, Adam Alfano, Pipston Hurst, Sara Bedsole, Lauren Gist, Caitlin Alled, Christopher Vaught, Phillip Betts, Sally Adams, Jonathan Jones, Ryan Moriarty, McKenzie Cranston, Nate Louran, Caroline Pettey, Lathryn Hurst, McKelvy Douthit, David Ross, Sarah Catherine Woller, Patricia Woller and Pearce Kross swarmed around these projects like bees and completed all of them! One amazing thing they had in common was that they could read and follow instructions. View these pictures!
